Boxing: According to promoter Dmitriy Salita, Otto Wallin is among the world’s “best” and still wants to fight Dillian Whyte after getting agonisingly near to a bout.

Wallin was supposed to fight Whyte in October, but the British WBC interim champion had to pull out due to a shoulder injury, and now faces Tyson Fury in a mandatory WBC title fight.

Salita believes Wallin is keeping an eye on Fury and Whyte’s complex negotiations and remains hopeful that he will be included in the Brixton heavyweight’s plans.

Salita told Sky Sports, “Otto Wallin has already proven himself to be one of the top heavyweights in the world.”

“He was on his way to the airport when the WBC interim championship fight was postponed, and he was supposed to fight Dillian Whyte on October 30.”

“Now, if Tyson and Whyte can’t agree on a fight, Otto vs Whyte will be the fight to watch.”

Last week, Top Rank CEO Todd DuBoef told Sky Sports that he was trying to book a bout between Fury and Whyte.

“We may fight in the first quarter of next year in the UK, and Whyte is a fantastic fight,” he remarked.

“As soon as possible, we want to finish the date and get him in the ring.”

Wallin’s only loss came in a devastating battle against Fury in September 2019, and Salita believes the 31-year-old is a threat to any of the division’s top fighters.

“Otto has come a long way since his razor-thin victory with Tyson Fury,” Salita added.

“When he initially shared the ring with Fury, he landed more punches than Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko combined.”

“Since the Fury battle, he’s improved, even more, winning two more fights, and he’s ready to fight the greatest.”
