Besiktas confirmed that their club president had coronavirus. Further, the Turkish club reported eight more members of the team and staff tested positive for COVID-19.
The coronavirus continues to influence football around the world, with many teams reporting at least one positive case.
Besiktas seems to be one of the worst hit. Moreover, the Turkish Super Lig is expected to restart on 12 June, so the club’s recovery from this blow is even more crucial.
Besiktas announced the news by way of two separate statements. One reported that the President Ahmet Nur Cebi had contracted the disease. The second added to the bad news by stating that there were eight positive results from further general tests across the entire team and club staff.
The statements further reassure that the infected personnel were quarantined in compliance with the medical procedure.
