Benjamin Pavard reveals his battle against depression

Benjamin Pavard broke onto the scene in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. This earned the defender a move to Bayern Munich in 2019.

Despite having a slow start to life in Bavaria, the Frenchman has managed 86 appearances for the club. Furthermore, he has win 46 caps for France.

However, in a recent interview, the defender has shared his struggles in the pandemic. He described how loneliness lead to depression. However, he would go ontp say, he came out as a better person.

Benjamin Pavard said: “In my thoughts, that didn’t feel right. At first, you tell yourself that it won’t matter and that it will pass, but when you realise that it persists and that you attend training without a smile on your face, you must act.

“Few people are aware of my struggles.

“I’m a person like everyone else, and despite having a very good house with a gym, I required social interaction.

“I woke up because I was famished. I made an effort to keep myself busy by cooking and watching shows. Although I dislike the word “depressed,” it applied in this situation.

“Like many football players, I was alone myself and needed supportive people around me to come back on top.

“I guess it is for the good as I have become stronger, following the events.”
