Miami Heat 130 – 124 Boston Celtics
Jimmy Butler scored 22 of his 26 points in the second half for the Miami Heat as they strengthened their hold on sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Jimmy Butler only scored 4 points at half-time for Miami heat but the rest of the team built up a 26 point lead in the first half. Duncan Robinson, Bam Adebayo, and Trevor Ariz scored 22 points, 20 points, and 19 points respectively.
The victory helped the Heat stretch their lead against the Celtics to two full games. Both teams will meet again in Boston on Tuesday night. The Celtics lost despite having the two highest scorers in the game. Evan Fournier scored 30 points while Jayson Tatum scored 29 points in a losing cause for the Celtics. Kemba Walker scored 18 points while Marcus Smart and Aaron Nesmith scored 16 points each. Boston was without All-Star forward Jaylen Brown, who missed his third straight game with a sprained right ankle he suffered last Sunday against Portland.
Dallas Mavericks 124 – 97 Cleveland Cavaliers
Tim Hardaway Jr scored 25 points including 7 of 11 from beyond the arc to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 124-97 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. This was the fourth consecutive win for the Dallas Mavericks strengthening their grip of fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
Josh Richardson scored 20 points for the Mavericks while All-Star Luka Doncic scored 15 before getting ejected from the game. Doncic was ejected in the third quarter after a flagrant foul on Collin Saxton in the third quarter. Jalen Brunson and Dwight Powell scored 13 points and 12 points respectively for the Mavericks.
A total of five players scored double digits in a losing cause for the Cavaliers. Sexton scored a team-high 24 points while Mfiondu Kabengele scored 14 points. Brodrick Thomas, Isaac Okoro, and Damyean Dotson scored 13 points, 12 points, and 10 points respectively. This was the tenth consecutive loss for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
