Kawhi Leonard helped himself to a double-double scoring 29 points while securing 10 rebounds as the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Dallas Mavericks 106-81. The dominant display by the Clippers ensured they level their first-round series in the Eastern Conference. Paul George scored 20 points to go with his nine rebounds as the Clippers bounced back from a 2-0 deficit in the series.
Luka Doncic was limited to just 19 points, six rebounds, and six assists after averaging 38 in the first three games. He was poor from the field scoring just 9 of his 24 attempts. He also managed to drain one three-pointer from nine attempts. Kristaps Porzingis scored 18 points for the Mavericks with the other three starters contributing just 12 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 5-for-30 from 3-point range, a single-game season-low 16.7 percent, after averaging 18.3 baskets and shooting 50.5 percent from a 3-point distance through the first three games of the series.
Leonard has been in scintillating form since Game 3 when he scored his first eight shots. He was in similar form in Game 4 making his first six shots from the field. The Clippers went on an 11-0 run in the second quarter and led by as much as 19 in the second quarter. Eventually, the Clippers took a 16 point lead into halftime. They opened the second half by scoring eight consecutive points and extending their lead to 24. They extended this lead to 28 in the third quarter.
The Mavericks’ only surge came when 7-foot-4 center Boban Marjanovic made his first appearance of the series midway through the first quarter and scored four of his 12 points, but the Mavericks never regained the lead. Dallas missed its first seven 3-point attempts before Jalen Brunson hit one at the first-quarter buzzer to cut the lead to 31-22.
The Kawhi Leonard Los Angeles Clippers will now host the Mavericks in Game 5 with the series level at 2-2.
