Kevin Durant was fined $50,000 for sending threatening and profane messages to entertainer Michael Rapaport on social media. The messages sent by Durant included homophobic and misogynistic language on his Twitter account.

“I’m sorry that people have seen the language that I used,” Durant said. “That’s not really what I want people to see and hear from me, but hopefully I can move past it and get back out on the floor.”

Durant has been out of action since mid-February and is on the brink of a return from his left hamstring strain. The injury at first was not thought to be serious but later scans revealed that the injury was a serious one. Durant sat out the entirety of the 2019-20 season with the Brooklyn Nets after rupturing an Achilles tendon playing in the 2019 NB Finals with the Golden State Warriors.

“So, one of those things where I’m not feeling a ton of pain, but it’s just like you don’t want to force one of these injuries, go out there and make it worse,” Durant added. a
