Basketball News: The 25-year-old power forward spent six and a half seasons in Orlando before joining the Denver Nuggets on the trade deadline in March, where he has had an immediate impact on defence and complements a stellar frontcourt that includes MVP Nikola Jokic and emerging star Michael Porter Jr.

According to The Athletic, Aaron Gordon has agreed to a four-year, $92 million deal extension with the Denver Nuggets.

After the Nuggets acquired him before the NBA trade deadline last spring, the long-time Orlando Magic forward found a new home in Denver.

Gordon appeared in 25 games for Denver last season after being acquired in March, averaging 10.2 points and 4.7 rebounds on a career-high 50% field-goal percentage.

In 2014, he was selected fourth overall in the NBA draught and has averaged 12.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in his career. Gordon led the Magic with season-high averages of 17.6 points and 7.9 rebounds in 2017-18 when he played a larger role in the offence.

Gordon’s contributions in the first round of the playoffs helped an injury-plagued Denver team defeat the Portland Trail Blazers in six games before being swept by the Phoenix Suns.

Before the Nuggets were eliminated in the second round, he averaged 11.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and two assists per game in his ten playoffs games with the team.

Last season, he had the most impact on defence, where he kept opponents to 3.2 per cent worse shooting percentages than their regular norms when he guarded them. The athletic forward, who can play both the 3 and 4 positions, is entering his seventh season in the NBA and will be 26 on Thursday.

Gordon will join a solid frontcourt that includes NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and Michael Porter Jr. for the Nuggets to move forward. After rehabilitating from an ACL rupture and subsequent surgery last spring, star guard Jamal Murray will ultimately return to the fold.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Gordon’s contract contains a player option for the 2025-26 season.
