Basketball News: The NBA has postponed the Chicago Bulls’ next two games after the team was diagnosed with 10 positive coronavirus cases.

The Bulls said “other staff members” are also in quarantine, making this the first postponement in the NBA this season.

“The Chicago Bulls’ next two games, Tuesday, Dec. 14 against the Detroit Pistons, and Thursday, Dec. 16 at Toronto, have been postponed,” the NBA said in a statement.

“The NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols are currently in effect for ten Bulls players and additional staff members.”

For Tuesday’s game against the Pistons, the Bulls were short of the league’s minimum roster size.

For the time being, the Bulls’ next game is on Sunday, December 19 at home against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Alize Johnson, a Chicago forward, was the latest to test positive for COVID-19, reducing the Bulls’ active roster to eight players. Johnson is the team’s tenth player to undergo the health and safety protocols.

The Bulls hoped to have Coby White out of protocol and ready to play against the Pistons on Tuesday night. On Sunday, White began cardio scanning.

During the continuing outbreak, White was the first player to test positive. Before the game with the Pistons was postponed, the Bulls thought they might have Javonte Green.

The Chicago Department of Public Health, according to ESPN, expressed worries about the Bulls playing this week, affecting the NBA’s decision.

Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Troy Brown Jr., Matt Thomas, Derrick Jones Jr., Ayo Dosunmu, and Stanley Johnson are among the Bulls in the health and safety protocol.

Alize Johnson, 25, has averaged 1.8 points and 2.3 rebounds in just 7.6 minutes per game in 16 games this season. He didn’t take a shot in his five minutes of action in Chicago’s loss to Miami on Saturday.
