Arsenal is said to be looking to unload Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi centre backs when the transfer window is reopened.
Mustafi and Sokratis have a total of 27 Premier League appearances for the North London outfit this term.
Sokratis, who joined the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund in 2018, will see his deal expire in the Emirates next season.
Likewise, Mustafi, who has had a rejuvenated position on the side since Mikel Arteta took over, has also had less than 18 months left for his current contract.
According to The Athletic, Arteta is likely to part with the defensive players, as the Spaniard is intent on a defensive reshuffle before next season.
Moreover, the departure of Sokratis could supposedly aid Arsenal’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey. Partey is said to have commanded the number five shirt in the Emirate, which is currently held by Sokratis. Gianluca Di Marzio believes that the Gunners are deeply involved in the midfielder.
