Andy Lyons will join Blackpool in January 2023 from Shamrock Rovers. The deal has been made official after the clubs had agreed upon an undisclosed fee. The fee is reported to be around £316,000.
Furthermore, rovers have inserted performance based incentive that could rise the fee involved significantly.
Lyons, an Ireland under-21 international, has made 32 appearances for Shamrock Rovers. Furthermore he has a handful of appearances in the Champions and Europa League qualifiers.
Andy made the move from Bohemians to Shamrock this year for a fee of £32,000. Since then he has scored eight goals and provided six assists for Rovers across all competitions.
The Seasiders announced: ‘Blackpool Football Club can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Shamrock Rovers for the transfer of Andy Lyons, effective from January 2023.
‘The full-back, 22, will join the Seasiders on a three-and-a-half year contract, which includes an option for a further year, following the conclusion of the League of Ireland Premier Division season.’
The Hoops announced: ‘After initial approaches were declined. Shamrock Rovers F.C. has accepted an offer from English Championship club Blackpool F.C. For the transfer of full back Andy Lyons. Crucially for Rovers, the transfer will not take place until January 2023.
‘Andy will remain with the club until the end of the season as the Hoops go in search of a third consecutive league title, the FAI Cup and participate in the group stages of the UEFA Europa Conference League.’
