Undisputed Match: Amir Khan thinks Tyson Fury will defeat Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed heavyweight fight because he feels Anthony Joshua was just two rounds away from defeating the Ukrainian in Saturday’s world title rematch.
Following a significantly improved performance in Saudi Arabia after suffering a points loss in their first encounter at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last September, Joshua was on the wrong end of a split decision.
The ninth round was the two-time world champion’s best as he applied pressure and threatened to halt Usyk. However, Usyk rallied to win back the WBA, WBO, and IBF titles in the final three rounds.
“I had Joshua going into the fight and winning the fight,” said Khan. “He didn’t look the best the first time he fought him so I thought this time with a new trainer, obviously a new trainer brings out the best in you and is going to help him.
“But to be honest with you, after six or seven rounds in the fight, you could see Joshua slowing down and Usyk coming stronger.
