Willian Says Moving to a Rival Team Like Arsenal or Tottenham Would Be Great

Chelsea midfielder Willian has opened the door to a summer transfer to Arsenal or Tottenham, sharing his confidence that “moving into a rival team would be great.”

Willian said to Youtube channel Desimpedidos: “It’s always a difficult call. At Chelsea, I identified myself a lot. I have a lot of respect for everyone at the club, especially the supporters. However, if I quit Chelsea without any difficulty and leaving the gate open, going to a rival club will be great.”

Pressed on whether a move abroad could be a choice as well, Willian added: “I don’t know. I like London and so does my family. But, I really don’t know the solution to this issue, if I’m going to live at Chelsea, transfer from London to another team or leave England.”

Willian’s seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge will come to a close at the end of June, when his current contract expires. The Blues gave an opportunity to prolong his tenure in West London to the 31-year-old, but a dispute about the length of the deal could see him going on to different pastures.

Both Arsenal and Spurs allegedly consider signing a free move to Brazil internationally, though Liverpool and Newcastle were both credited with an interest in his services.

Though Willian confirmed that he is negotiating a fresh 3-year contract with Chelsea, he also declined to rule out negotiating with any possible suitors in an April interview with Fox Sports.
