“I want to sign with the right club. It could be Spurs or another club,” Jan Vertonghen shares with Play Sports Kot on YouTube.
Vertonghen disputes that he had already agreed to sign a new deal with Spurs so that he could join Inter as a free agent. The Defender will be 33 on Friday, and his contract with Spurs will expire at the end of this season, but rumors of an extension seem to be premature.
“I want to travel in Europe and learn a new language,” he says. According to HNL writer Kristof Terreur, Vertonghen pointed out that Italy and Spain were among the options he was looking at, particularly as he wanted to learn a different language:
“It might sound weird, but since the coronavirus crisis, there has been more interest. I’m a free agent and some clubs might not have a lot of money.”
As for his choice of club, he remarks, “It must be a club with ambition. I want to play in Europe, as the national team is important for me.”
