Russian Football Federation Decides to Let Fans Attend Matches after Season Restart

The Russian Football Federation has reported that when the season begins on June 21, fans will be given entry to the matches.

The clubs must determine whether to disperse the fans in the stands, because this depends on each stadium’s capacity.

Zenit St Petersburg has a stadium size of almost 70,000 although some, including Orenburg Gazovik, have only a 7,500-seater for their home games.

The report also says in the first phase that clubs will only be allowed to fill 10 per cent of the capacity of the respective stadiums.

There were severe financial difficulties faced by several clubs due to the pandemic, and resuming without fans would only worsen the situation. So, the federation was authorized by the health authorities in Russia to allow fans into the stadium.

But, finally, football will return in Russia in late June, with supporters in the stands.
