Roma Wants Smalling to Play with Them till 2021 At Least

According to news, Manchester United center-back Chris Smalling may spend the campaign 2020-21 on loan with Roma.

Smalling is likely to have his current loan contract extended to continue with Paulo Fonseca’s side for the rest of the 2019-20 season, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The source, however, states that the former non-league defender will also spend the next term (2020-21) with Roma, ensuring once again that the Italian side would cover his wages.

In the 2019-20 season, the 30-year-old joined Roma on loan last summer and inspired the Italian outfit, making 28 appearances in all competitions.

At Old Trafford, Smalling’s contract is set to run until the summer of 2022.

The Serie A giants have said they want to sign the Englishman on a permanent contract on a number of occasions, but it is unlikely that they can secure an agreement with United.
