Rodgers Confirms that Leicester City Cannot Afford Coutinho

Leicester City Manager Brendan Rodgers admitted to the Eamonn and the Gaffers podcast that his club would not be able to afford Barcelona attacker Philippe Coutinho during this summer’s transfer window.

In the current season, Coutinho has been in fairly good form for Bayern, contributing nine goals and eight assists in 32 competitions. The Brazil International, who spent the 2019-20 loan campaign in Bayern Munich, is generally expected to abandon Camp Nou this summer in search of new pastures.

Leicester is one of a number of clubs to be credited with an interest in the former Liverpool playmaker. Foxes boss Rodgers, however, has confirmed that the 27-year-old, who has a deal at Camp Nou until June 2023, is ‘away out of the club’s price range’.

“I’ve seen lots of speculation around oung Phil, I don’t think… Philippe’s a wonderful player, a brilliant talent, but he would be someone who is way out of our price bracket,” Rodgers told the podcast.
