Pires Open to Becoming a Head Coach

Robert Pires, Ex-Arsenal star, is not currently employed as a full-time coach, but during the last few seasons he has done work helping out at the Gunners.

“There are some who made the decision to become a coach or sports director or a consultant,” said Pires in an interview with Moroccan journalist Zineb El Houari.

The 46-year-old has announced his readiness to become a short-term head coach:

“I’ve taken that route and it still allows me to be in football. But I think coaching is a great job, even if it’s hard on a daily basis. I think I’ll decide to take the coaching diplomas in the years to come, and I’m planning to do it in Spain.”

He further states, “I can’t say which team I will be coaching for. I can’t choose honestly. If you’re a coach you can’t know where you are going.

“I can tell you I’m going to train Arsenal, Metz, Reims, Marseille or Villarreal but I can’t. It’s complicated today.”
