Juventus vice president Pavel Nedved reveals that Jose Mourinho had asked him to join their Treble-winning squad, but that “I’d have been following him to any club in the world but not to Inter. I couldn’t really do that.”
“Jose knew I was terribly attracted by the Champions League prospects, because I would never have won, but his plan didn’t work. We couldn’t have been compatible,” Nedved told Tuttosport.
The conversation took place in the spring of 2009, when Mou had finished his first season in San Siro and Nedved was about to hang up his boots at Juve. Mourinho phoned the Czech star and urged him to reconsider his retirement, pledging that they could win the Champions League together.
As it turns out, it just wasn’t meant to be.
