Mainz and Cologne Tie with Each Side Scoring Two Goals

Mainz fought back to claim a crucial point in the Bundesliga relegation battle with a 2-2 draw at Cologne from two goals down.

Later, on Sunday, leaders Bayern Munich visited Union Berlin. At the arrival of team buses at the Stadion a der Alten Foersterei, around two dozen fans, who did not appear to be members of ultra-groups, appeared to be awaiting.

Berlin Police, who have a significant presence in the Koepenick area of Berlin, dispersed the small gathering of people waiting ahead of the match.

Meanwhile, Mainz remains at the relegation play-off place four points clear of Fortuna Dusseldorf while Cologne is midtable.

Cologne had won eight of their last 11 matches because of the coronavirus before the season was suspended in March.

A superb Pierre Kunde solo goal earned Mainz a deserved share of the spoils in the 72nd minute shortly after Taiwo Awoniyi had brought them back into the game on Sunday.

Early penalty from Mark Uth as well as a header from Florian Kainz in the second half had given them the advantage.
