Harry Kane and Leyton Orient have confirmed a partnership agreement that will have the club being sponsored by the Tottenham striker.

This will offer him his first professional start as a sponsor. “We declare that for the 2020/21 season, Harry Kane has taken over our jersey sponsorship line,” the club said in a statement. “With the blessing of the Premier League, FA and EFL, the club is incredibly proud of a first of its kind contract.”

Like other English lower-division teams, League Two side Orient has suffered significant financial losses as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.

The east side of London was forced to put their whole play team on temporary leave in April, having just returned to English football’s fourth tier in 2019, following two years in the National League.

Harry decided to help the club through such troubled times that brought him his first professional start and he even contributed the jersey sponsorship to the following three causes:

Within the conditions of the deal, Orient’s home jersey must carry a note of gratitude to the frontline volunteers, while their away kit pays tribute to Haven House Children’s Hospice and the third Shirt to Mind, the mental health charity. Ten per cent of the shirt sale’s profits go to the charitable cause printed on the label.

Kane, who had his first experience of senior football on loan in Orient in 2010-11, is thus willing to support them recover, and has provided his assistance with a donation that would also benefit frontline staff amid the Covid-19 crisis.

“I was born and raised only a few miles away from the stadium so I’m very glad to have the opportunity to offer back to the team that brought me my first professional career.” Kane told the official website of the team.
