According to Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze would fit in well at Barcelona because of his ability to “handle the ball.”

The number one Blaugrana told in DAZN podcast the Kicker: “Mario is a player who can handle the ball and advance the game. He will certainly suit in the Spanish league.”

In recent times, ter Stegen’s own future at Camp Nou has also been the subject of speculation, given that he has yet to reach an agreement on a new deal with Barca.

The 28-year-old, who is left to run on his existing contract for less than two years, says talks are delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak, but he remains satisfied with his current climate due to a stable balance between football and family.

Back in 2017, the 27-year-old returned from Bayern Munich to Westfalenstadion for a second spell, but failed to rediscover his best form in an ongoing battle against a muscle disorder.

Gotze’s current Dortmund deal is due to expire this summer, at which stage he will become a free agent-with no new terms on the table for an extension.

The World Cup winner himself confirmed that he would be open to a move abroad and suggested several landing spots for a midfielder who was once considered one of his generation ‘s finest young talents.

Ter Stegen said, “I don’t know if his goal is to play football. We never think about football while we are talking to each other.

“For me, it is only important that he makes the right decision and that he is happy. It would suit a lot of clubs and can make a difference for many clubs.”

The Barcelona goalkeeper (ter Stegen) still expressed his belief that when he leaves Westfalenstadion, a move to Spain could suit the German playmaker.
