Juventus recently asked Barcelona whether their player Frenkie de Jong could be available this summer. However, Barcelona quickly shut down this interest ensuring that the player remained with them.
According to Sport, Juve reportedly failed to approach Barca for de Jong and he will stay in Barcelona.
The report claims that Quique Setien ‘s side was swift to close the Italian club’s enquiry, making it clear that the Dutchman will not be available for any price before the 2020-21 season.
This is with good reason- de Jong has been in excellent form for Barca this term, adding two goals and four assists in 37 competition appearances.
Furthermore, the 23-year-old shone at Ajax during the 2018-19 season before joining the Spanish champions in the transfer window last summer. With such a track record, it is no wonder Barca intends to hold on to their 2019 hire.
Meanwhile, Barca is itself said to be planning to battle Liverpool to sign the core of RB Leipzig, striker Timo Werner, ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
