Everton Chastises Moise Kean for Ignoring Social Distancing Guidelines during Lockdown

After the striker flouted lockdown restrictions on coronavirus, Everton branded Moise Kean’s actions as ‘unacceptable’.

Kean, 20, filmed himself partying with friends until the early hours of the morning during the COVID-19 pandemic, in a clear breach of the government’s social distancing rules.

A club statement read: “Everton Football Club was appalled to learn of an incident in which a first team player ignored guidance from the government and club policy on the coronavirus crisis.”

The club expressed strongly its disappointment with the player and made it clear that such actions are totally inacceptable. “Everton has regularly stressed the importance of following all the guidelines of government – including rules and advice for indoors and outdoors – through a series of official communications to all staff members, including players. The incredible people at the NHS deserve the greatest respect for their hard work and sacrifice.”

Kean is the latest Premier League player to flout the rules after Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker were forced to apologize for breaking lockdown restrictions, while Tottenham pair Serge Aurier and Moussa Sissoko were filmed training together earlier this week.

Kean, who joined Juventus from Everton last summer for a reported £24million, is likely to face disciplinary action.

Even though Everton is unlikely to confirm any punishment, the Liverpool Echo says he could be forced to pay a fine of around £100,000, which accounts for about two weeks’ salaries for the forward.

In his debut season in England, 20-year-old Kean has failed to impress, scoring for the Toffees only once in 26 games.
