Dries Mertens Is Signed by Inter for Two Years

Inter reportedly agreed terms with Napoli forward Dries Mertens.

La Repubblica writes that Inter has overtaken Chelsea for Mertens. This week a ‘common understanding’ was reached between the Nerazzurri and the Belgian members.

Corriere della Sera has gone one step further and is now reporting that they have officially entered into a two-year contract worth € 5 m a season, with a €4 m sign-on bonus.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich missed the deadline to purchase Ivan Perisic. That’s because Sky Sport Italia says that Bayern missed the deadline to take up their €20 m option to permanently transfer the winger’s loan.

However, the broadcaster says that the German giants have been calling for more time due to the coronavirus pandemic. If this does not work out, Inter will soon be unable to cash in on Perisic.

On the other hand, the two newspapers believe that 32-year-old Mertens’ arrival on a free transfer would essentially pave the way for Lautaro Martinez to join Barcelona. He’d be slotted right into the attack on Beneamat, alongside compatriot Romelu Lukaku.
