Cologne and Fortuna Düsseldorf played and tied on 2-2 in the last match of the 27th round of the German Bundesliga.
Cologne, the host, miraculously scored two goals in the last five minutes of the match to save the game by ending it on a tie. They scored in the 88th and 90+1 minutes and drew a point.
Fortuna had a convincing lead until the 88th minute and were one step away from their first victory in Cologne after 1989.
The guests secured a lead in the 41st minute with a goal by Kenan Karaman, assisted by Steven Skrzybski.
Later, Erik Thommy scored for 2-0 on another assist from Skrzybski, bringing the guests closer to important points in the fight for first-league salvation.
Just three minutes before this, Cologne could have equalized in the 58th minute with a penalty shot, but Marc Uth failed to score. His shot came in from the right-hand side but Florian Kastenmeier managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction.
However, Cologne did manage to equalize in a finish that was crazy because of how late it came in the game.
First, Anthony Modeste scored to change the tally to 1-2 in the 88th minute, and three minutes later Jhon Cordoba equalized to 2-2. Dominick Drexler assisted on both goals.
