Bayer Wins Match against Werder with Two Goals by Havertz


In a Bundesliga match between Bayer Leverkusen and Werder, the Bayer players defeated Werder 4-1 (2-1), with empty stands at the Weser Stadium in Bremen.

This was the last match of the 26th round of the German Bundesliga, finally restarted again. Now, in just four days, on Friday, May 22, the match between Hertha and Union Berlin will start the 27th round, the second since the German championship resumed after a two-month break due to a coronavirus-caused pandemic.

With this 50-point victory, Bayer remained in fifth place, but came close to fourth-placed RB Leipzig just one point behind. Meanwhile, Werder is in the penultimate place with 18 points, with a game less and a point more than Paderborb who is at the back.

Bayern Munich is leading with 58 points, four more than second-placed Borussia Dortmund. Third place is for Borussia Moenchengladbach with 52 points.

The double scorer for the Bayer was Kai Havertz, who scored both of his goals in the 28th and 33rd minutes of this match. Weiser (61) and Demirbay (78) also scored one goal each in the second half for a convincing victory for Bayer.

Meanwhile, Gebre Selassie of Werder equalized in the 30th minute for the home team, but it was Werder’s only bright moment in the game.
