Barcelona May Lose Marc-André ter Stegen

Marc-André ter Stegen, the German goalkeeper, has not yet been secured with a new contract by Barcelona.

Barca has reportedly made little progress in reaching agreement with ter Stegen, who has enjoyed a strong spell at Camp Nou for six years, making a total of 224 appearances at all competitions. According to Sport, an offer has yet to be presented to Ter Stegen which will tempt him to renew his contract with the Catalan giants, partly because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Despite being a long-term first-team player, the 27-year-old is allegedly one of the club’s lowest-earning, high-profile players.

Although the stopper has a deal until 2022, Barcelona is keen to reach a positive resolution in order to maintain its value in the market for transfer. While it is unlikely that Ter Stegen will be short of offers should he become available, the report suggests that he would prefer to remain at the leaders of La Liga.
