Bale Reacts to the Criticism He Received for Playing Golf

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has proved his passion for golf despite the criticism he has faced because of it.

Bale, who came from the bench to score a double in the final victory over Liverpool in Real Madrid’s 2018 Champions League, had a difficult campaign in Spain, where he suffered a number of troubling injury problems.

Now, the former Southampton and Tottenham man has tried to defend himself from allegations that he is more concerned with his handicap than with his on-field footballing exploits.

He has reacted to his critics on The Erik Anders Lang Show by saying, “I see people in America, for instance Stephen Curry, playing the game on the same morning. If I’m practicing two days before the game here it’s like: ’What are you doing?’”

He thus pointed out that there is a very different attitude in the United States, where NBA Superstar Stephen Curry can be found on the course on the morning before games.

“Many people have trouble with me playing golf,” he added. “I don’t know exactly why. I’ve talked about it many times and everybody thinks it’s okay, but there’s that perception especially in the media that I should rest, that it can lead to injury.”
